Alexandra Vizman

Alexandra-Mihaela Vizman is a Romanian pianist based in Switzerland. She was born on 8 November 1993 in Deva. She began studying piano at age 8 with teacher Ana-Maria Colompar, while a student at the Waldorf Lyceum in Timișoara. Four years later, she was admitted to the Ion Vidu National College of Arts where, after three years, she joined the class of teacher Maria Bodo, with whom she worked until earning, in 2016, her degree in Musical Performance from the Faculty of Music and Theatre of Timișoara.
During her studies, she took part in national and international competitions and festivals, winning several prizes. In 2014, after receiving a scholarship from the Rotaract Club competition as part of the RotarArt 4x4 project, she gave solo recitals in Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iași and Bucharest.
She continued her studies at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, joining the class of French pianist Pascal Godart. There she earned a Master's in Instrumental Pedagogy in 2018, and a second Master's in Performance in 2020. During this time, she took part in masterclasses with award-winning pianists Johan Schmidt and Giovanni Bellucci. She also refined her chamber music with, among others, Vincent Coq, pianist of the Trio Wanderer, as well as with Pierre-Stéphane Meugé.
She leads a very active artistic career, giving concerts as a soloist — notably in 2016 and 2019 with the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra of Timișoara — as well as numerous recitals, solo or with various chamber music groups, in Switzerland, France and Romania. In 2017 she founded the Trio Miró with clarinettist Adeline Mélo and violinist Émile Abeille, with whom she performs in Switzerland and abroad.
Contemporary music plays an essential role in her musical activity. In 2016, she began working with Swiss composer and conductor William Blank on his piano repertoire. This collaboration first took shape in 2018 at the "Portrait William Blank" concert, where she performed Lightnings for piano, and again in 2020, in a performance of the concerto Cris for piano and ensemble under the composer's baton, accompanied by the contemporary ensemble of the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne. In addition to her concert career, she also maintains an active teaching practice at the École de Musique de Rolle et Environs, where she teaches piano, as well as serving as an examiner for piano exams. She is a founding member of the ensemble.
