Augustin Lipp

Augustin Lipp

After earning a Bachelor's degree at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, Augustin Lipp continued his studies at the HMDK Stuttgart, where he earned Master's degrees in percussion, pedagogy and contemporary music with the highest distinction and jury commendation.

Fully convinced of the momentum percussion is gaining in the music world, he first honed his craft as a soloist, with recitals taking him across Switzerland, France, Germany and Finland. This development then led him to work as a theatre musician, in particular with puppeteers Léa Duchmann and Florian Feisel, as well as to found numerous ensembles and collectives: his duo with cellist Martin Egidi, the Duo de Lutry with improviser Tom Goemare, the jazz-folk trio Dirty Degrees, the Klimabühne collective, the Lausanne Marimba Ensemble, and the contemporary ensemble Abraxas.

Augustin has won nineteen national and international prizes, among them two special prizes at the ARD competition in Munich in 2019, first prize at the Kiefer Hablitzel competition in 2021, and the DAAD prize for social and intercultural engagement. Throughout his studies, he received significant financial support from the Fritz Gerber and Lyra foundations, based in Zurich, as well as from the Deutscher Musikrat.
