Aurélien Perdreau

Born in 1991 in Franche-Comté (France), Aurélien Perdreau was introduced to music at the age of 5. He then began percussion at 8 at the municipal music school of Héricourt. After earning his Baccalauréat, he joined the regional conservatory of Paris to study with prestigious teachers from major Parisian orchestras, such as François Desforges and Emmanuel Curt (Orchestre National de France), Jean-Baptiste Leclère (Opéra de Paris), and Nicolas Martynciow (Orchestre de Paris). There he earned a 1st Prize in Percussion and his Diplôme d'Etudes Musicales unanimously with jury commendation in 2012.
His studies in Paris allowed him to meet, in masterclasses, musicians from all backgrounds, such as Jean Geoffroy, Eric Sammut, Julie Spencer, Philippe Poncet, Carlo Rizzo, Jean-Pierre Drouet, Francis Brana, Jean-Claude Gengembre and Pedro Carneiro. It was in Paris that Aurélien took on the role of orchestral musician, playing with numerous symphony orchestras such as the Orchestre Symphonique des Yvelines, the Orchestre d'Orsay, the Orchestre et Chœur des Universités de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de la Nouvelle Europe, and the Orchestre Colonne. He also had the opportunity to play with the Orchestre Victor Hugo Franche-Comté under Jean-François Verdier.
He then earned an Advanced Diploma in 2015 at the Créteil conservatory. There he met the musicians of the Paris Brass Band and joined their ensemble in 2014. With them, he was twice crowned French Champion, in 2015 and 2016, and took part in several international tours in Norway, Taiwan and South Korea.
In 2015, Aurélien joined the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), where he studied percussion with Stéphane Borel, Nicolas Suter and Jacques Hostettler. This school allowed him to explore different repertoires, such as contemporary music, musical theatre and chamber music. There he met Keiko Abe at the Kalima, the international marimba academy she founded, and the Tchiki Duo.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in 2018 and a Master's in music pedagogy in 2020, Aurélien continued his studies at the Bern Academy of the Arts (HKB) to earn a Master of Contemporary Art Practice.
Since 2016, Aurélien has taught percussion at several music schools, notably at the Emuse school in Ecublens and the La Gérinia school in Marly, in the canton of Fribourg. There he founded the AYA Percussion Ensemble with Annick Richard and Yves Kolly in 2019.
Aurélien has founded several ensembles, such as the percussion trio AuSaMa (with Sacha Perusset and Mathis Pellaux), and the Duo Caméléon (with Léa Marion-Nély). In 2018, he became an additional percussionist with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne and also plays in various ensembles (symphonic, wind bands, brass bands, baroque) in Switzerland and neighbouring France.
