Hortense Fourrier

Hortense Fourrier began her studies at the Caen Conservatory, before graduating from the HEM Geneva in the class of Miguel Da Silva. Currently completing a Master Soloist at the same school, she is also a resident of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
With chamber music as her repertoire of choice, she has had the chance to benefit from the guidance of members of some of the greatest quartets, such as the Ysaÿe, Belcea, Hagen, Artemis, Berg and Ébène quartets, and to share the stage as a chamber musician with wonderful instrumentalists such as Claire Désert, Michel Dalberto, Anne Gastinel, Lise Berthaud, Olivier Charlier, Lise de La Salle, François Salque, Nicolas Baldeyrou, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Lucienne Renaudin Vary, Felicien Brut, Xavier Philips, Abdel Rahman El Bacha and Anne Queffélec. She is currently a member of the Quatuor Elmire. With this ensemble, she has had the chance to be invited by some of the greatest festivals — the Rencontres Musicales d'Evian, La Folle Journée de Nantes, and Concerts de poches — as well as to play in some of the finest concert halls, including the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, the Grange au Lac in Evian, and the Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice.
Hortense has also made several notable radio appearances, including on France Musique with, for example, a programme centred on Shostakovich, and on Radio Classique with, for example, Louis Vierne's Quintet with Michel Dalberto.
Passionate about contemporary music, she has had the chance to premiere numerous works, both in chamber music and as a soloist, and to train with members of the Ensemble intercontemporain through the Ulysses network.
A laureate of several international competitions, she won first prize in 2019 at the Glazunov competition (Excellence category), third prize in 2016 at the Vire competition (Soloist category), and second prize at the Verao Classico festival (as soloist and chamber musician), as well as the Rotary Club prize at the Ravel Festival. She was a finalist in 2020 at the Rubinstein Competition in Berlin and reached the quarter-finals of the ARD Munich competition in 2022.
