Julia Deit-Ferrand
Julia Deit-Ferrand has sung at the Grand Théâtre de Genève the title role of Rossini's La Cenerentola in an adaptation for four soloists, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro under Leonardo Garcia Alarcón, Berta in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Nouvel Opéra Fribourg, the Dwarf Chouquette and an Animal in Marius-Felix Lange's opera Blanche-Neige, and Chérubin in the world premiere Sholololo! with the Opéra Louise company. In musical theatre, she has played Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Fantine in Les Misérables, and Hattie in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate. In concert, she has sung under Pierre Bleuse in a programme built around L'Heure espagnole, performed her recital Technicolor Dreams for the Nouvel Opéra Fribourg, and been invited to the Hakuba International Music Festival in Japan with pianist Eric Cerantola and the Melini quintet.
She won the Young Audience prize and the prize for best contemporary performance at the Kattenburg competition (Lausanne) and is a laureate of the Fritz Bach Foundation. She earned 3rd prize at the international Léopold Bellan competition in Paris and was a Swiss finalist of the Voix Nouvelles competition in 2018.
She holds a Master's in sociology from the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III) and a Master Soloist from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne with Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet, after a performance Master's with Hiroko Kawamichi. Since the start of the season, Julia Deit-Ferrand has performed in a new work based on La Fontaine's Fables with the Orchestre Pau Pays de Béarn, given a recital at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, at Bourges Cathedral and at Lausanne Cathedral with the Sinfonietta orchestra in Duruflé's Requiem, and at the Château de Versailles in the programme "Volez, zéphyrs!" under Margaux Blanchard.
Coming up, she will sing Die Frau über 60 in Péter Eötvös's Der goldene Drache at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Brigitte de San Lucar in Aubert's Le Domino noir at the Opéra de Lausanne, and Phébé in Rameau's Castor et Pollux and Cupidon in Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers. In recital, she will tour Central America with the baroque music ensemble Les Ombres.
